Floriade 2019 - Everything You Need To Know

Floriade is back in 2019 for the 32nd year, from 14 September to 13 October. This year’s theme is World In Bloom, and will offer a diverse program of music, cultural celebrations, food and wine, horticultural workshops, market traders, artistic displays, entertainment and recreational activities. Visiting Canberra for Floriade is the perfect way to celebrate spring and witness over one million beautiful blooms on display.

Floriade NightFest

Floriade NightFest is on daily from 3-6 October from 6:30pm - 10:30pm, weather permitting. Nightfest offers 4 nights of food and entertainment among the illuminated flower beds. Floriade NightFest is a ticketed event, click here to book your tickets now.

Floriade open hours: 

Open daily from 9.30am – 5.30pm, weather permitting. Last entry to the event is 30 minutes before closing.

How to get to Floriade: 

WALKING

Floriade is a pleasant walk from the city centre. One of a Kind Apartments is a short 5-10 minute drive to the city centre, a 25-30 minute walk, or 15 minutes by light rail. From the city, it is about a 20 minute walk to the Floriade grounds via City Walk and Allara Street.

Park along Constitution Ave and walk to the Nerang Pool Entry via the underpass in approximately 5-10 minutes.

BIKE

For your convenience, bicycle racks provided by Pedal Power are located at the Parkes Way and Regatta Point Entry to Floriade. One of a Kind Apartment has free bicycles available for guests to use. This is subject to availability as there are limited numbers of bicycles. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Bus – bus stops are located on either side of Commonwealth Avenue, opposite Regatta Point. It’s only a short walk from the bus stop to the entrance of Floriade. Transport Canberra provides regular services on weekdays and weekends.

Light Rail the Light Rail connects the north side of Canberra to the city. Once you arrive at the city interchange (Alinga Street stop), you have a couple of option to get to Commonwealth Park; you can stretch your legs with a walk (it’s about 20 minutes, 1.5km), or you can jump on a bus and hop off on Commonwealth Avenue (route numbers 2, 4, 6, 7, 57 and 58 all stop at Floriade from the city).

CAR

Parking at Acton Park across from Commonwealth Park is extremely limited.

If possible, it is recommended that you park a little further away as Floriade is an easy walk from parking options in the Parliamentary Zone, London Circuit, the Canberra Centre, CIT Reid or the National Convention Centre. Pick-up and set-down at the Regatta Point Entry Gate is permitted for less mobile passengers.

Disabled parking spaces are available at Regatta Point, please follow the signs when you arrive.

Parking is available at a number of public car parks within close proximity to Floriade, including;

  • Public car parks off Constitution Avenue

  • Public car parks off London Circuit

  • Public car parks off Coranderrk, Ballumbir and Cooyong Streets

  • Limited car parks at Acton Park off Commonwealth Avenue
