One of a Kind Apartments has entered into a partnership with Abundant Water Inc., a Canberra-based Not for Profit organisation developing low-tech and low-cost water filtration systems for remote communities in Lao PDR. We are donating a portion of all bookings to Abundant Water, and encourage our guests to take a look at Abundant Water and to make a donation of their own. We plan to set up a water filter system in our garden to demonstrate how simple, ingenious and universal it is.
One of a Kind Apartments believes in Corporate Social Engagement whereby we pursue sustainability, collaboration and equity in our operations so that we can become an agent of transformative social change. We are attracted to the Abundant Water project because it is shining example of Corporate Social Engagement. It is essentially a grass-roots, ground-up response to the problem of unsafe drinking water in disadvantaged communities. It is not a ‘first-world’ solution to a ‘third-world’ problem but an active collaborative engagement between this Canberra-based organisation and the Lao villages and organisations where the filter technology is being developed and installed.
At One of a Kind Apartments we also believe in a Triple Bottom Line (TBL) accounting whereby we take into account not only the economic outcome of our business decisions but also the social, environmental and inter-generational outcomes. Abundant Water is also developing a holistic approach to the delivery of development solutions. They are committed to the economic and efficient use of resources, sustainable and environmental solutions to human problems and to a collaboration between peoples across language and cultures. For all these reasons we are proud to be associated with such an innovative and ground-breaking organisation and project.
